Das abwechslungsreiche Begleitprogramm zur imai-Ausstellung The Invisible Force Behind. Materialität in der Medienkunst nähert sich nun dem Ende. Zu den zwei finalen Veranstaltungen, dem Videoabend mit Thomas Neumann und Juergen Staack am Mittwoch, den 16. Juli und zur Performance von Agnes Meyer-Brandis am Samstag, den 19. Juli laden wir Sie hiermit herzlich ein! Zudem möchten wir Sie auf den Ausstellungskatalog hinweisen, der in Kürze erscheinen wird.

The rich evening programme that has accompanied the imai exhibition, The Invisible Force Behind. Materiality in Media art, is drawing to an end. We are delighted to invite you to the two final events, a Video Evening with Thomas Neumann und Juergen Staack next Wednesday, July 16th, and a performance-lecture by Agnes Meyer-Brandis on Saturday, July 19th. Further we are pleased to inform you about the exhibition catalogue which will be published soon.

Mit Thomas Neumann und Juergen Staack

Im Januar 2012 wagten sich zwei in Düsseldorf wohnende Künstler nach Sibirien, zum Kältepol der Erde, wo im Jahr 1926 eisige -72 °C gemessen wurden. Bei solchen Temperaturen lässt sich die Kälte nicht nur spüren, sondern auch hören — ein äußerst seltenes Phänomen bekannt als „Eisflüstern“.

In January 2012, two artists from Düsseldorf dared a Journey to Siberia, the Earth’s cold pole where the icy temperatures of -72 °C were recorded in 1926. At such temperatures the cold can not only felt but also heard – a rare phenomenon called ‘ice-whispering’.

Die dritte Quadriennale-Nacht am 19.07.2014 widmet sich dem Thema Performance. Zwischen 19 und 24 Uhr wird in allen Häusern ein vielfältiges Programm dazu angeboten. Im imai wird die Künstlerin Agnes Meyer-Brandis, die mit ihrem Werk Im Troposphärenlabor in der Ausstellung The Invisible Force Behind vertreten ist, die Performance-Lecture Space Travelling halten.
Die Lecture handelt von der Kunst und der Wissenschaft beim Fehlen der Schwere. In einer Mischung aus Film, Performance und Vortrag präsentiert Agnes Meyer-Brandis gravimetrische Dokumente eines ungewöhnlichen Experimentes. Das Publikum wird Zeuge einer Wanderschaft auf der Suche nach dem Realitätsgrad von Konstruktionen.

The Long Night of Performance will be held during Quadriennale Düsseldorf on July 19th. From 7:00 pm to 12:00 midnight, the participating museums and exhibition spaces will present an exciting programme. At imai Agnes Meyer-Brandis who presents her work
Inside the Troposheric Laboratory in imai’s exhibition The Invisible Force Behind will give the Performance-Lecture Space Travelling.

The lecture is about art and science in the absence of gravity. In a mixture of film, performance and lecture, Agnes Meyer-Brandis will present the gravimetric documents of an extraordinary experiment. The audience will witness the wanderings in search of the degree of reality of constructions. Read more >>

Die Ausstellung The Invisible Force Behind. Materialität in der Medienkunst läuft bis zum 10. August im Obergeschoß des NRW-Forums. Zeitgleich ist im Erdgeschoß die Ausstellung des Filmmuseums Düsseldorf Visionen und Alpträume. Die Stadt der Zukunft im Film zu sehen.
