FAHRRAD Essen is the most important consumer cycle show in the German-speaking countries, and it covers the whole spectrum of cycling, accessories and cycle tourism. There’s also the Pedelec Award Ceremony, test rides on bikes from the ExtraEnergy Test IT Show and on test bikes from the current test session, with test reports, and as the final touch the LEV Components Special Exhibition.

On closing, the test-winning bikes, along with their test reports, can be examined in person at the Test Exhibition in Hall 8.

Test IT Show
Making up the Test IT Show indoor test track at FAHRRAD Essen are curves, straights and a ramp section around 20 m long, with a 10% gradient, for ‘hill-climbing simulation’. In addition to the pedelecs from the current test session which achieved ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’ verdicts, there will be pedelecs from Test IT Show premium partner brands eflow, Stromer, Bulls, Zemo and Pegasus to round off the test ride experience.
LEV Components Special Exhibition
This Special Exhibition is dedicated to presenting, at venues around the world, technologies and products in the field of LEV (Light Electric Vehicle) components. Participating exhibitors give information in three languages (English, German and Chinese) on posters, individually created for each exhibitor, of their product range, and of the feature highlights of each product. An interactive experience is also made possible, with each exhibit available for direct hands-on examination.
About ExtraEnergy e.V.
ExtraEnergy e.V. has carried out independent e-bike and pedelec tests since 1992. Since then the organisation has established itself as the most influential information, user protection and promotional organisation for light electric vehicles (LEVs) worldwide.
The ExtraEnergy Test Verdict is a recognised mark which highlights good products and offers customers reliable guidance for their purchasing. The flip side of independent buying advice is straight-talking warnings about substandard products.
The founders realised from the start that these vehicles need to be experienced first-hand. The Test IT Track has been on the road since 1997, and today has three units for the Test IT Show. ExtraEnergy also has a stationary base at its test facility in Tanna, where 22 years of test reports and LEV history are on display at the LEV Museum.
Other services on offer include presentations and exhibitions at trade and public shows, and information dissemination with the assistance of correspondents worldwide.
Alongside its physical presence, the website www.extraenergy.org provides a treasure-house of information online. With support from the European Union and the IEA (International Energy Agency), in 2012 the GoPedelec! Handbook was published in German, English, Dutch, Hungarian, Czech, Italian, Spanish and Chinese, including much new information and best practice studies for electric-assist two-wheelers.
As founding members of the EnergyBus and BATSO (Battery Safety Organization) associations, ExtraEnergy is also active on both the ISO (International Standards Organisation) Standards Committee, with a focus on mechanical standardisation, and on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), and so helps set safety and communication standards for LEVs worldwide.
