ExtraEnergy Pedelec Awards presented

On the 28th August 2015, the ExtraEnergy Pedelec Awards were presented to the winners of the Spring 2015 Test season. Pedelec Adventures launched “Berlin Trefected - exploring the limits” and the five pedelec game changers of the future were shown.

The trophies were handed over on the 28th August at the EUROBIKE show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, to high-ranking staff members from the award-winning manufacturers. A supporting programme presented stories, products and applications with a pedelec theme.

Another highlight of the show was the launch of the latest Pedelec Adventures project and it’s documentary video “Berlin Trefected - exploring the limits”. The audience gathered around EUROBIKE’s fashion show stage in the East Foyer watched the stunts, met the riders - trial champion Marco Hösel, LEV designer Norbert Haller, and Pedelec Adventures head Susanne Brüsch - while learning about the 4-kW-powered Trefecta  e-bike in an interview with Trefecta-founder Haiko Visser live on stage.

In addition, ExtraEnergy welcomed the pioneers of the off-road pedelec, Carol Urkauf Chen (owner KTM Bicycle) and Susi Puello (head of Winora Group Accell Germany). „In 2010, ExtraEnergy tested the first off-road pedelec on the market, the KTM eRace“, recalled Hannes Neupert (Chairman ExtraEnergy e.V.). „One year later, the first full suspension off-road pedelec on the market, the Haibike eQXduro Fs, was tested by ExtraEnergy.“

Also, the five pedelec tech game changers of the future were shown. These are the  plastic injection molded frame, presented by Alexander Oelschlegel (Rehau AG), new hybrid drive systems, presented by Steffen Braune (IAI GmbH), Peter Broghammer (Marquardt), Rod Keech and Linan Gong (NexxtDrive), connectivity through standard interfaces, represented by MyStromer AG, and standard energy storage, presented by Johannes Dörndorfer, Rüdiger Nierescher (EnergyTube Holding GmbH) and Calle Nicolai (Heisenberg).

Pedelec Award Ceremony
Four vehicles achieved exceptional ratings across five very different product groups.

Tour and Family Pedelec test winner
Bulls Green Mover Lacuba Plus Trapez - The best Tour and Family pedelec in the Test, and in the hotly contested product category of Easy pedelecs it also managed the second highest customer wish fulfilment factor. Easy Pedelec test winner

Alongside our physical presence, www.extraenergy.org provides a treasure-house of information online. With support from the European Union and the IEA (International Energy Agency), in 2012 the Go Pedelec!
