Our Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds have already travelled a long way before we are able to present them to you. Many of our stones find their way to us via India. Since we are often personally on site, we feel it is important for us to do something for this wonderful country.

If you follow our newsletters regularly, you are already familiar with a very special organisation in South India and know that every year we donate to the Regenboog India Foundation.

This Indian foundation is responsible for implementing and managing local development projects in South India for its partner organisation, the Arunachala Rising Sun (ARS) Association, a Swiss charity.
The heart of the foundation is its Mobile Library, which consists of a small, specially outfitted truck that takes several thousand books to the surrounding villages and evening schools. Books, which are usually unaffordable and rare luxuries, especially for poor families and their children, are now brought directly to children who otherwise would not have access to reading material and an opportunity to learn through books.
This year we would like to share some great news with you:
The Mobile Library has been so successful that it reached its capacity limits. Instead of converting a second delivery truck, however, the Regenboog India Foundation has decided to outfit two motorcycles. The Motor Cycle Library is now able to transport dozens of books to smaller schools, significantly increasing the total number of schools serviced!
Every year, ARS sells a photographic calendar containing beautiful pictures that provide insight into the everyday lives of the people involved in the projects. Every calendar ordered is a double gift: one for the viewer of the pictures and a second for the teams working on the development projects. All proceeds from the calendar sales flow directly back to fund the local projects. |
