During the last months MEDICALBOARD had the opportunity to support Medela AG by objectifying the assessment of several business opportunities. This might also be of interest to you and your organization.

For more than 50 years, Medela AG has developed from a small family owned company in Switzerland to a global producer of technologically advanced breastpumps and medical vacuum technology. MEDICALBOARD enabled Medela to decide about a technology opportunity by performing a business case validation. Apart from a competitor analysis and market sizing this comprised personal field visits and structured interviews in order to confirm the value proposition. Based on the insights gained and a strategic fit assessment performed the project team was able to make recommendations on whether to pursue the opportunity or not.
Market Assessment for in-house Technology
MEDICALBOARD was appointed to perform an analysis for a specific market segment. The goal was to gain a general understanding of the market segment and identify potential areas of interest for a new in-house technology. In a first step potential areas where identified by performing internet research. Thanks to the broad network of MEDICALBOARD these could be verified by field visits and personal interviews.
Market Anaylsis and Segmentation
Medela has a long history in offering products for hospital and outpatient care. Business environment, applications as well as customer needs have changed in the course of the last years. The objective of MEDICALBOARD’s assignment was to suggest a concise segmentation and sizing of the market with a clear description of customer groups, needs and channels. The result of our analysis helped to take a sound decision for further business development steps.
