A cappella music for Advent – Christmas concert of the University Choir
On December 10 at 5 pm, the Dresden University Choir will present its Christmas concert "Venite, Gaudete" at the Loschwitz Church. Starting with the Advent song "Veni, veni, Emmanuel" the evening will proceed from a simple monophony to a colorful 16-voiced harmony and end in contemplative silence. This year, however, the concert is planned to be more than simply a joyful Adventus Domini (Arrival of the Lord). Given the political situation around the world, a happy Gaudete will literally leave a bitter taste on everyone’s lips. The two movements from "Un soir de neige" (A Night of Snow), which Poulenc wrote at Christmas in the winter of 1944, reflect this pensive tone, while at the same time enchanting the listener with their musical poetry. Admission is free. A donation will be appreciated.
