Italian Climate Change Fiction
Digital event series: Italian Climate Change Fiction
Climate change, which is having particularly significant effects in Italy - as in all Mediterranean countries - has increasingly become the subject of literary negotiations since the early 2000s. The associated environmental impacts are intertwined with ethical and political issues in the novels, often in dystopian scenarios. In this digital event series, we would like to explore this phenomenon together with our guests: The authors Laura Pugno and Chiara Mezzalama will talk to Prof. Dr Elisabeth Tiller about Italian CliFi on 14 November and 19 December respectively and offer insights into their respective novels. The series will conclude with a guest lecture by Prof. Dr Marco Caracciolo (Universiteit Gent) on the topic of CliFi in contemporary Italian and English-language literature on 23 January.
