Mit der Ausstellung präsentiert die Stiftung imai eine limitierte Videostill-Edition, für die zehn internationale Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus dem Vertriebsprogramm des imai Motive aus ihren Werken ausgewählt haben. Einige dieser bedeutenden analogen und digitalen Videos, die zwischen den 1990ern und heute entstanden sind, werden ebenfalls zu sehen sein.
Die Künstler wählen unterschiedliche Zugänge und Interpretationen des Ausgangsmaterials. Bewegte Bilder als Ursprung und Quelle der großformatigen Fotodrucke bleiben in den Motiven erkennbar. Die Gegenüberstellung von Bewegt-bildern und Standbildern in der Ausstellung erzeugt eine Spannung, welche die unterschiedlichen materiellen und medialen Qualitäten von Video und Fotografie herausstellt. Beteiligte Künstler und Künstlerinnen: Robert Cahen, Freya Hattenberger, Gudrun Kemsa, Sunjha Kim, Mischa Kuball, Philipp Lachenmann, Van McElwee, Agnes Meyer-Brandis, Atsushi Ogata, Myriam Thyes. Sowohl die Videostills als auch die Videos können über das imai erworben werden. Die Ausstellung ist vom 30. Januar bis zum 8. Februar 2015 im 1. OG des NRW-Forums zu sehen. At the exhibition, the imai foundation will present a limited video still edition with themes artists have selected from their works included in the imai distribution program. A number of these distinguished analogue and digital videos created in the period from the nineties until today will also be exhibited.
The artists selected various avenues and interpretations of the original material. Moving images are identifiable in the themes as the source used for the large-sized photographic prints. The contrast between moving pictures and stills generates a tension which highlights the various materials and medial qualities of video and photography. The participating artists are Robert Cahen, Freya Hattenberger, Gudrun Kemsa, Sunjha Kim, Mischa Kuball, Philipp Lachenmann, Van McElwee, Agnes Meyer-Brandis, Atsushi Ogata and Myriam Thyes. The video stills and videos can be purchased from imai. The exhibition is open from January 30th until February 8th on the upper floor of the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. Zum Düsseldorf Photo Weekend findet im Haus der Universität eine Vortragsreihe statt. Am Samstag, den 31. Januar wird Dr. Renate Buschmann, Direktorin des imai, über die Videokunstsammlung der Stiftung imai sprechen.

During the Düsseldorf Photo Weekend there will be several lectures held at the Haus der Universität. On Saturday, January 31st Dr. Renate Buschmann, director imai, will talk about the video art collection of the imai foundation.
