Hope & Dreams

We don’t want to write about what stress, uncertainty and too much change does to humans today; a great deal of research and literature on this subject (see example) is out there already. We prefer not to waste your precious time and attention with unnecessary problem analyses.

We would rather write about what is good for people in times of VUCA, COVID and WHO regulations; hope, dreams, outdoor activities and a clear mind.

Hope and dreams are a crucial factor to move on from all the worry and the “let’s see, maybe next week” attitude on to a joyful future.

Therefore, one of President Bidens’ first official acts to hire Bruce Springsteen for the “Land of Hope & Dreams” is musically and psychologically a great choice.*

Hope = Optimism x self-effectiveness

A stark study about the connection between optimism, pessimism and the enduring of captivity during war, came to the conclusion that optimists tend to break down and lose it first. Why? Because often in the long run “only” great and positive images tend to harm more than do good if there is no active contribution to them.

The definition of hope is therefore optimism multiplied by the mindset of wanting to make a difference.

Questions to ask: What are your positive images? How can you make a difference? Can these things be combined?

Dreams = Thoughts about future – (when + if)

Everyone can dream, if they can keep their own “when and if” quiet for a while.**
If you’re finding it difficult to dream and develop visions in these times due to insecurity thwarting your positive images even before they have been created; ask yourself the following questions:

Suppose you were ten times more courageous?
Assuming money doesn’t matter, what would you do then?
Suppose this is your last year in this role/subject/topic. What matters then?

Fresh air = 360° of possibilities

Are you looking for new walking trails, routes, destinations and ideas where to spend your lunch break or your weekend?
You can plan an adventure starting from your front door with peakfinder.org.
Enter your address, climb 100 vertical meters above your house (set camera height) and take a look at where you can go.
This new 360° view over known territory is possibly the technical and digital access to the topic of hope and dreams. In the best case, you may even find a destination, giving you the strength to set out.

ONEDAY helps for win-win

If your dreams are big, you often depend on others' approval to reach your goal. However, other people and partners often have totally different goals and possibilities. The ability to negotiate or approach a deal with clarity and good strategies can help to realize your dreams comprehensively.

In our ONEDAY Win-Win in cooperation with the Bullinger Institute for Negotiation Processes, you learn how to prepare for a decisive negotiation and also strengthen your negotiation skills.

ONEDAY = Moving forward with hope

This winter, we at ONEDAY often hear that our days spent outside in nature in a 1:1 setting are the perfect antidote to a digital home office.
We have also been able to gain a stronger position in the digital realm and can now be reached personally regardless of our location.

We have also been able to expand our team with Evelyne Stock and Marcel Kraaz as coaches and with Romana Schwerzman as “Head of Inquiries to Satisfaction”.

We wish them health and the much needed clear mind to be able to kindle and nurture your hopes and dreams.

Best regards
Team ONEDAY

PS: In our last newsletter we talked about Boris Herrmann and his circumnavigation of the world. In the meantime, after a dramatic finale, he returned as a true hero and in good health - well done Boris!
