We are very pleased to be able to report to you twice a year in the future with this newsletter about news and stories from your former University and university city Göttingen.
A lot has happened in alumni work in the past year. With Alumni Göttingen e.V., we rely on a strong ally and a central contact point for all our alumni, for joint projects and for your commitment. But of course we do not want to miss staying in touch with you ourselves! Members of Alumni Göttingen will also be informed twice a year about projects and initiatives in the Association in addition to this newsletter.
Please feel free to forward this email to former fellow students and help us to expand our network. Especially the generations that did not have e-mail addresses at the time of their studies are difficult to reach without your help. Interested alumni can register for future university newsletters here.
Do you have feedback for us? Feel free to contact the Alumni Relations Team at any time at alumni@uni-goettingen.de.
Enjoy reading and best regards from Göttingen

The ARWU is primarily based on a university's research performance – the quality of the universities was measured in particular by the number of publications and citations in international scientific journals.
How do top athletes talk about doping when they themselves are using performance-enhancing drugs? A new study by the University of Göttingen reveals that any decision to use drugs almost inevitably means the decision to engage in deceptive communication such as lying or omitting information. Those using drugs, for example, regularly describe anti-doping policies as being more intense than ever or overly restrictive, play down the extent of the doping problem, or portray themselves as victims.

In Göttingen, paddlers and anglers pulled a catfish out of the Kiessee with a turtle stuck in its mouth. The catfish was just under 1.50 meters tall, a giant specimen that was pulled ashore in June. Still, its prey was probably a bit too big for the predator. The turtle was still partially protruding from the mouth of the fish, which was initially still alive but could not be saved. In the end, not only the reptile but also the freshwater fish was dead.
