Together with various migrant associations and groups in Dresden, Cottbus, and Halle, the MigOst team has now organized eight of the 18 storytelling cafés planned in the project, three of which were held online due to the pandemic. Ideas for and talks about further storytelling cafés are already underway, including with the Community Interpreter Service Dresden and the Cottbus Refugee Network.
You can find the dates on the
project website.
Parallel to the organization of the storytelling cafés, biographical interviews with contemporary witnesses are taking place. In addition, initial talks have already begun with cultural institutions, such as the Stadtmuseum Cottbus, the Bühne Hellerau, and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, about how the memories and experiences of the participants can be made accessible to the general public starting in 2023.
There has already been a great deal of attention from academic circles: We now receive weekly inquiries from academics and educational institutions, including the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung and the Landesbeauftragte zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur Sachsen. The team has formulated
guiding principles in order to make the handling of such inquiries more transparent.
In addition, an interview was conducted in January with Dr, Noa Ha, former junior research group leader at the Center for Integration Studies and as such significantly involved in the development and application of the MigOst project. The interview can be read, and is published here:
