GAMM Art Exhibition Combined Art, Science and Technology
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM), a scientific art exhibition took place in the lecture hall centre of the TU Dresdenn from 30 May to 2 June 2023. For the exhibition, seminar room 304 was transformed into a gallery, which was open not only to the more than 1000 participants of the GAMM conference, but also to the public.The artists Wolfram Neumann and Denis Walther presented their interpretation of the interplay between applied mathematics and mechanics. Objects and installations by Prof. Daniel Lordick, Dr. Marco Salvalaglio and Prof. Axel Voigt were also on display. The exhibition also included historical collection items, mathematical models, gear models and calculating machines. At the midissage Prof. Axel Voigt, who curated the exhibition, guided the more than 100 visitors through the exhibition and also showed the premiere of the project "Airport" by Anton Ginzburg, who worked at TU Dresden in 2021 as part of the Schauffler Lab scholarship. The visual artwork, created together with Prof. Stefan Gumhold and Prof. Axel Voigt, is an immersive, programmed environment choreographed by aeroplane traffic and is a further development of the Formstein programme by Karl-Heinz Adler and Friedrich Kracht.
