Employee Survey

TUD staff are the most important source for surveying their needs and evaluating various activities that are part of personnel and organizational development. Based on the first survey in 2019, the next TUD employee survey will be conducted in the period from September 18 to October 13, 2023. We cordially invite all TUD staff (with the exception of student staff) to participate in the approx. 15-minute online survey.

Prof. Gerhard Fettweis and two other TUD professors received the prestigious UNIPRENEURS Founders Award

UNIPRENEURS, the initiative to strengthen spin-offs from German universities, has awarded 20 outstanding professors. With Prof. Frank Buchholz (Medicine), Prof. Gerhard Fettweis (ING) and Prof. Karl Leo (MN), the TUD provided three award winners this year. With 700 nominations from founders, UNIPRENEURS is the largest award for the promotion of entrepreneurship in higher education and research.

Milestone in the fight against pandemics: Pioneering approaches for the detection of viral antigens

The outbreak of the Corona pandemic in 2020 has once again shown how important reliable and rapid detection methods are in order to be able to initiate effective measures to combat a pandemic. Scientists from the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology were able to make considerable progress in the development of miniaturised sensors for the accurate and efficient detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens in the course of two studies. The results of their work have now been published in the journals "ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces" and "Advanced Materials Interfaces".

Minister Gemkow visits training reactor

Saxony's Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow visited the Chair of Hydrogen and Nuclear Energy at the end of August to learn about teaching and research at the training nuclear reactor. The professorship, headed by Prof. Antonio Hurtado, trains more than 100 students and young scientists at this facility every year and also teaches the latest technological developments and concepts.

Prof. Jürgen Czarske appointed to the Editorial Board of Light: Science & Applications

Prof. Jürgen Czarske, holder of the Chair of Measurement and Sensor Systems Technology, was appointed to the Editorial Board of Nature's scientific journal Light: Science & Applications during the Board Meeting and Light Conference in Changchun in August.

SPIN2030 microelectronics tour: Saxony's Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow at NaMLab

With his microelectronics tour as part of the SPIN2030 campaign, Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow will once again underline how diversified the Free State has become in the field of microelectronics research. At TUD, he paid a visit to the Nanoelectronic Materials Laboratory, NaMLab gGmbH for short, a subsidiary of TUD.

Artificial Intelligence explained: New exhibition at the COSMO Science Forum in the Kulturpalast

The new exhibition "Artificial Intelligence Explained" opened at the COSMO Science Forum in the Kulturpalast Dresden on September 8. Since September 12, it has also been open to the public and can be visited free of charge Tuesdays to Thursdays from 13:00 to 18:00.

Dr. Gregor Damnik deputizes the Chair of Didactics of Informatics

Since the beginning of September, Dr. Gregor Damnik has been the deputy of the Chair of Didactics of Informatics and the head of the Student Computer Center of the TUD. At the same time, he was appointed as the representative for the teaching-related courses in the Faculty of Computer Science. His research focuses on digital learning, task generation and learning level diagnostics.

           

TU fund "Industrial Property Right Searches for Research Projects"

The Patent Information Center Dresden (PIZ) is your competent contact partner for all questions concerning patent information and research in the field of intellectual property rights, such as patents, trademarks and designs. It supports all researchers of the TUD in the preparation and implementation of research projects. For this purpose, the PIZ offers detailed IP searches. These can be carried out by the researchers themselves under supervision or completely taken over by the PIZ. The central TU fund "IP searches for research projects" is available for funding these searches.

Strategic Partnership Workshop between TUD and Wrocław Tech

On October 24/25, 2023, Politechnika Wrocławska (Wrocław Tech) and TU Dresden are organising a strategic partnership workshop at Wrocław Tech. The workshop aims to initiate joint research projects and further strengthen the exchange. Supporting female careers at TU Dresden

In 2022 Dr. Sandra Buchmüller came to TUD as a visiting professor in the Eleonore Trefftz Programme. Here she researched until August 31, 2023 on the topic of a conscious and non-stereotypical approach to gender and diversity aspects in design research and development processes. We are pleased that she will be contributing her research topics to engineering teaching for another six months in the ING School.

BrightMinds: Frank Fitzek - When humans and machines interact

The Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) cluster of excellence aims to enable people to interact with virtual worlds in real time. To this end, the scientists at CeTI are conducting unique interdisciplinary research as a basis for applications in medicine, industry and the Internet of Skills. Prof. Frank Fitzek holds The Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks and is speaker of the Cluster of Excellence. His vision is that all people - regardless of gender, age, cultural background or physical limitations - have access to skills and expertise. He reveals what “excellence” means to him in the video.
