‘It's not easy to establish an interdisciplinary degree programme at a German state university that involves subjects from different faculties,’ says Stefan Robel, Managing Director of the Centre for International Relations, looking back.
The founder of the Center for International Studies has passed away. Prof Reiner Pommerin's vision was to prepare students for jobs all over the world: interdisciplinary and internationally oriented, with a compulsory study abroad programme combined with training in modern languages.
Janina Dill went abroad after completing her Bachelor's degree in International Relations. She continued her studies, gained her doctorate and is now Professor of Global Security at Oxford. As an expert in a male-dominated field, she is in demand worldwide.
Hannes Klöpper studied International Relations and co-founded two start-ups. Today, he is CEO of HelloBetter, a leading global provider of digital applications, and uses his negotiating skills for mental health.
After completing her Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Lilith Diringer completed two Master's degrees in the USA in two years. She only recently returned home and continues to run the start-up for sustainable travel that she founded during her studies.
