“Films for Life” – The Mental Health Film Festival organized by KiK

The “Films for Life” festival is intended to achieve three things in particular: Raising awareness for depression and suicide risk on the TU campus, drawing attention to the great work of the “Deutsche Depressionsliga” and, of course, simply showing some great films! Our biggest thanks go to the Students’ Council of TU Dresden. With their support, admission to the festival and all events will be completely free of charge.

Plans for the fall break?

We have two exciting ideas: In inspiring workshops at HERbst Camp (October 7 to 11, 2024, schoolgirls from the 9th grade upwards will engage in topics such as robotics, virtual reality and how to put them to work for a climate-friendly future.
At the Science Slam Camp (October 8 to 11, 2024), experienced coaches will show young people between the ages of 16 and 18 how to present a (research) topic in a short, understandable and entertaining manner – perhaps even on stage!

Awareness at the first semester introductory events (ESE)

Awareness means being sensitive to the needs of others. But awareness also means being aware of problematic issues. The first semester introductory events (German abbreviation: ESE) are a special experience for everyone. On previous occasions, however, the organizers have been confronted with incidents that bordered on the unacceptable. As a result, this year there will be a central awareness team that can be contacted in such situations. Anyone who would like to support the team or is interested in the topic should contact the “Referat Gleichstellungspolitik” at the Students’ Council (StuRa).

Sexualized violence: educate, recognize, act

Sexualized violence in the shape of harassment, coercion and discrimination in the workplace is serious and totally unacceptable. Often, sexualized violence is played down, even though consequences might be severe. In addition to the psychological burden for those affected by it, it can also have a considerable impact on the working environment. Hanging up pornographic pictures in the workplace can already constitute sexual coercion. Advice is available from, for instance, the Complaints Office for Incidents of Harassment, Discrimination and Violence, the Personnel Representation Council, the Equal Opportunities Officer, and the Occupational Health Services at TUD.
