The month of July marks the height of summer in Central Europe. Nature is at its most magnificent and gardens are in full bloom. The rosebuds have unfolded, revealing their full splendour and offering perhaps the last moments to enjoy their fleeting beauty until next year. If, however, you would like to keep a little of their timeless charm all year round, we have a suggestion: Rose Cut Diamonds.


The Rose Cut – Interesting Facts

Dating back to the early 16th century, the Rose Cut was originally developed to preserve as much of the rough diamond’s original shape as possible. Cutters produced stones with a flat base and 12 or 24 triangular facets that converged to form a point.

Today, rose cuts are still frequently found in vintage jewellery, with well-known variations including the "Antwerp Rose", the "Half Dutch Rose", and the "Full Dutch Rose".

 

When a rose cut does not have a flat base on its underside, it is most often a Double Dutch Rose Cut or a Full Dutch Rose Cut with a faceted base.

Today, we have a better understanding of how light interacts with facetted gemstones and how a perfect, modern cut can optimise sparkle and brilliance.
Despite this difference, however, demand for historic gemstone cuts, known as "Old Cuts" or "Antique Cuts", remains strong as they exude a feeling of serenity and understated elegance.

Thanks to their flat profile, rose cuts fit beautifully close to the skin, making them particularly well-suited for the design of earrings or pendants.

• Champagne coloured rose cut stones ranging from approx. 2.00 mm to 6.00 mm in shades from C1 to C7 
• Natural coloured "Frozen Roses" (opaque rose cuts) in a wide variety of shades 
• Salt & Pepper rose cuts from 2.00 mm to 3.50 mm 
• Heat-treated "Black Roses" from approximately 2.00 mm up to a diameter of 8.00 mm
