Nature's Brilliant Colours
We’re opening our safe - Newsletter No. 33 02/2018
We’re opening our safe for you!
It’s that time again!

This year, once again, we will be present at INHORGENTA MUNICH (16 – 19 February 2018)!

We look forward to your visit and to having an opportunity to personally show you the assortment of diamonds that we have carefully selected and brought together for you.

You will find us in Hall C1, at Stand 309.

We’re opening our safe for you!
In our safe, we have exceptional single stones in rare colours, classic Champagne Diamonds (C1-C7) and the finest small goods in all colours.

The following images will show you some of the stones that we offer, including size, cut and colour. Keep in mind, however, that the world of Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds is so vast and diverse, it is difficult to capture its beauty with just a few sentences and charts.

Nevertheless, we would like to provide you with an overview of our product range:
Terminology
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: Diamonds from 0.005 ct (0,90 mm) to 0.29 ct (4,30 mm).
Small goods refer to diamonds that are kept in so-called "parcels" containing several stones of different color grading and size. For a customer's specific request, we will be happy to search out the perfect stones.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: Brilliants starting at 0.30 ct are available as single stones. Each individual diamond is kept separately in a small pouch containing accurate information concerning the diamond’s color, cut, weight and purity. Each stone is also assigned an identification number, further reducing the risk of confusion.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: Like our brilliants, our fancy cut diamonds, available in fancy shapes such as cushion, radiant or oval, are individually packaged and marked starting at 0.30 ct. An exception is made for rare colors such as pink or blue, which can be individually marked starting at 0.15 ct.
Our pictures show the diamonds that we typically have in stock and can deliver promptly. For more specific requests for stones that we do not happen to have in stock, we maintain a search list. We travel regularly to Belgium and India to buy diamonds for our inventory. During these trips, we can search for exactly what you need to find the perfect stones for you and your customers. We also stay in close contact with our colleagues throughout the industry during the year, so that we can also search for you from Berlin and Winterthur to obtain the best offers.
Champagne Diamonds (C1-C7)

Single Stones - Fancy Cut:
This chart shows the availability of light, medium and dark Champagne Diamonds.
Brown, also known as champagne, is the most common colour of Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds. For this reason, they are less expensive than diamonds of rarer colours or colourless diamonds. Light browns are more common than dark to reddish brown, and the darker shades are in short supply, especially in the very high quality we are looking for. A majority of the most beautiful champagne coloured diamonds come from the Argyle Mine in Northwest Australia, also known for its pink diamonds. The colour of both pink and Champagne Diamonds has the same origin. Because of the very high pressure and extreme heat in the Earth's interior, the layers of the
crystal lattice shifted during the formation of the stone, creating the colour impression of either brown or pink.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: We offer light Champagne Diamonds (C1-C2) starting from 0,90 mm. Good quality medium to dark Champagne Diamonds (C3-C7) are in short supply, especially in the smallest sizes. We can therefore offer medium Champagne Diamonds (C3-C4) starting at 1,20 mm and dark Champagne Diamonds (C5-C7) starting at 1,30 mm.
In addition, we carry small goods in fancy cuts ranging from about 0.02 ct to 0.29 ct.
We also offer rose-cut Champagne Diamonds ranging from approximately 2,50 mm to 4,30 mm.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: Champagne-coloured brilliants are available in light and medium shades of brown (C1-C4) up to 5.00 ct. We also stock brilliants in darker tones (C5-C7) up to about 3.00 ct.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: Just as for our Champagne-coloured brilliant cut diamonds, we stock fancy cuts in lighter and midtones up to 5.00 ct and darker tones up to 3.00 ct.
Yellow Diamonds

Single Stones - Fancy Cut:
This chart shows the availability of light, medium and intense yellow diamonds.
In addition to champagne, yellow is one of the most common and most sought-after diamond colours. Above all, pure-coloured stones are in high demand. Yellow diamonds with special and rare secondary colours like orange or green, however, are also very much in demand. The more intense the colour, the more sought after and more expensive the diamond. The colour of yellow diamonds is caused by the nitrogen stored in the crystal lattice.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: We stock deeper shades of yellow diamonds starting with “Fancy Intense Yellow” from 0,90 mm and light and medium shades from 1,25 mm.
We offer small goods in fancy cuts ranging from 0.02 ct to 0.29 ct.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: We offer lighter shades up to “Fancy Light Yellow” in weights up to 2.00 ct and more intense shades up to 0.60 ct. Yellow diamonds are usually cut in fancy shapes as these cuts “hold” the colour better.  Brilliant cut yellow diamonds in intense shades, larger than 0.50 ct are extremely rare and hence worth more than similar, fancy-cut stones.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: We offer single stones in fancy cuts in all shades of yellow up to approximately 3.00 ct. Cushion and radiant cuts are particularly popular.
Orange Diamonds

Single Stones - Fancy Cut:
This chart shows the availability of light orange (“Fancy Deep Yellow Orange”) and dark orange (“Fancy Deep Brownish Orange”) diamonds.

Orange diamonds are mainly found in mixed colours of yellow, orange and brown. The palette ranges from light yellow-orange to deep, almost reddish brown-orange. Pure orange diamonds are extremely scarce with real rarity value, and are usually sold at auctions. It is also important to make sure that larger orange diamonds are not too brownish or cloudy. This is why larger stones in a beautiful, bright orange are real treasures.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: Lighter, yellowish orange diamonds are available from 1,30 mm. Good quality darker tones such as "Fancy Deep Brownish Orange" can be found from 1,50 mm.
We sell small, fancy cut goods from around 0.03 ct to 0.29 ct.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: We carry brilliant cut, light orange tones up to approximately 0.60 ct and darker orange tones to approximately 1.00 ct.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: We have fancy cut orange diamonds up to 1.50 ct.
Gray Diamonds

Single Stones - Fancy Cut:
This chart shows the availability of light and medium gray as well as silver diamonds.
Gray diamonds come in all shades from "Faint Gray" to "Fancy Dark Gray". Pure gray diamonds with a pronounced gray colour are relatively rare. Common secondary colours like yellow or brown will lower the stone’s value, whereas a blue secondary colour will increase the value of a gray diamond considerably. Deposits of boron or hydrogen atoms in the crystal lattice and tiny dark inclusions in the transparent diamond are the two main causes of colour in gray diamonds.

Colourless diamonds with beautifully distributed, larger black inclusions are called "Silver-diamonds". Due to the inclusions, the diamonds have a gray colour effect, which ranges from light to dark gray depending on the distribution and type of inclusions. Also, since these stones are pique diamonds, they are quite inexpensive.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: We only carry light gray diamonds up to the colour level "Fancy Light Gray", especially in the smaller sizes from 0,90 mm to 1,50 mm. Medium shades of gray from "Fancy Gray" are only available from about 1,50 mm. Dark tones like "Fancy Dark Gray" occur occasionally between 1,50 mm and 4,30 mm (0.29 ct). We also have the so-called "Silver Diamonds", or "Naats", in stock in shades of light to dark gray from 1,30 mm.
We carry small goods in fancy cuts from 0.05 ct to 0.29 ct.

Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: Lighter shades of gray like "Fancy Light Gray" are available up to about 2.00 ct, and medium grays like "Fancy Gray" up to about 1.50 ct. Good quality, brilliant cut gray diamonds in dark tones like "Fancy Dark Gray" with a pure colour are very hard to find. We also carry brilliant cut, Silver Diamonds up to about 1.00 ct.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: We carry single, fantasy cut, gray stones up to about 2.00 ct, and Silver Diamonds up to about 1.00 ct.
Green Diamonds
Pure green diamonds are some of the rarest stones among Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds. We have a few pure green diamonds in stock, ranging from 0.30 ct and 0.50 ct, but they are not available as small goods. There is, however, an alternative worth mentioning: olive diamonds.
Olive diamonds always consist of mixed colours that usually contain yellow, brown, gray and green. Particular attention should be paid to a good combination or a good mixing ratio of these colours. The stones should be neither too yellowish nor too brownish. One particularity among olive diamonds are the so-called "chameleon diamonds", which can change their colour when exposed to heat or changing light conditions (from dark to light). This phenomenon has not yet been fully explored which is why it is so fascinating. These stones have real rarity value.
If you want to learn more or read about it, please follow this link to our Newsletter No. 26 "Chameleon-Diamonds".

This chart shows the availablilty of olive green diamonds.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: We offer olive diamonds from about 1,30 mm to 2,30 mm. Occasionally there are also diamonds between 0.20 ct and 0.29 ct.
We occasionally sell small goods in fancy cuts from 0.10 ct to 0.29 ct.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: We have olive brilliants up to about 1.00 ct in stock. Larger stones in bright olive are extremely rare, as many diamonds contain too much brown or yellow and thus have a less attractive appearance.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: We have olive green, fancy cut diamonds up to approximately 1.50 ct.
Pink Diamonds
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut:
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut:
Single Stones - Fancy Cut:
The chart shows the availability of light and medium pink diamonds (both pure and mixed) and diamonds ranging from "Fancy Brownish Pink" to "Fancy Intense Brownish Pink".
Pink is one of the rarest diamond colours. In addition to pure pink diamonds, there are also many variations with secondary colours like purple, orange or brown. Pink stones with purple as a secondary colour have a rather cool appearance, whereas pink diamonds with a brown secondary colour have a warmer colour effect and can be described by the term "old rose". Due to the brownish undertone, this variant is less expensive than pure pink diamonds or those with the equally rare secondary colour purple.
Pink diamonds have the same colour cause as Champagne Diamonds. The very high pressure and extreme heat in the Earth's interior cause distortions in the diamond’s carbon crystal lattice during formation. Most pink diamonds are mined in the Argyle Mine, located in Northwest Australia.
Small Goods - Brilliant Cut: "Fancy Brownish Pink" brilliants are available starting from 0,90 mm, while pure pink diamonds or those with secondary colors like purple can only be reliably found from a size of 1,30 mm.
We carry small goods in fancy cuts from about 0.03 ct up to 0.29 ct.
Single Stones - Brilliant Cut: As with all coloured diamonds, pink diamonds are also more often cut in fancy shapes than in brilliant cuts. Brilliant cut pink diamonds starting at 0.30 ct are coveted rareties. We carry lighter shades of pure and mixed-coloured pink diamonds up to about 0.45 ct. We also carry more intense tones up to approximately 0.30 ct.
Single Stones - Fancy Cut: Pink diamonds (both pure and mixed colours) are available in fancy cuts up to about 1.00 ct.
In order to understand the range of colours we carry more easily, all the charts are shown again here in a complete overview:

Black (heated)
In addition to Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds in the already presented colours such as yellow, orange and pink, we also offer heat-treated black diamonds.
Untreated, natural coloured black diamonds are often cloudy and irregularly black. Their black colour can be caused, for example, by small black particles in the diamond that prevent the light from penetrating. Another common cause of colour in black diamonds can be a high concentration of blackish foreign minerals, such as sulfides and microcracks. By heating the diamonds within a vacuum, graphitization of the carbon occurs along the inclusions and split surfaces. This treatment gives the diamonds a uniform, black appearance. In the meantime, over 99% of all black diamonds available on the market are heated. Black diamonds are usually cut a bit higher than other coloured or colorless diamonds.

This chart shows the availability of black diamonds.
Small Goods and Single Stones: We have black brilliant cut diamonds from 0,70 mm all the way up to 5.00 ct in stock. In addition, we also offer some fancy cuts such as princess cut from 2,00 mm or round rose cut from 2,50 mm.
Green and Blue (treated)
The term “natural colour” means untreated. Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds in green and blue are hardly ever available due to their rarity. Nevertheless, as green and blue are very popular colours, we also offer them as irradiated diamonds. These diamonds are always very clearly marked as having been treated, so there can not be any confusion with the much more valuable Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds. We have small goods in stock from 0,90 mm to about 4,00 mm (0.25 ct), and occasionally brilliant cut single stones up to about 0.60 ct. We can also accept firm orders for larger stones; the delivery time for individual stones is usually six weeks.
Icy Diamonds
Icy diamonds, also called rough diamonds or rustic diamonds, are diamonds that are crisscrossed with so many different coloured inclusions that they appear opaque.
This structure eliminates the brilliance typically found in an inclusion-free diamond and gives these stones a more muted appearance than their sparkling relatives. Because of this, these stones are also very inexpensive.
We have round rose-cut icy diamonds in stock from 2,00 mm to about 6,50 mm and carry pairs of fancy rose-cuts ranging from 1.00 ct to 35.00 ct.
