Today, before the start of the new semester, the Rectorate would like to provide you with some basic information on the organization, regulations and schedule of the upcoming 2021 summer semester. This entailed, in the run-up to these regulations, meetings with representatives of all the groups involved, considering the current pandemic situation in Dresden, Saxony and throughout Germany.
The upcoming summer semester, like the two previous semesters, will, in part, be organized digitally. There will be a mixture of online and on-site courses. The latter will primarily be offered to students who are in their first semesters, as well as for events that require on-site attendance due to the nature of the degree program (internships, laboratory experiments, etc.). The
hygiene regulations already in force will be utilized as a basis when allocating facilities. At the same time, we would like to remind you that the pandemic situation is serious and developments remain difficult to predict.
Therefore, we ask you as lecturers to also prepare all your courses and examinations to be carried out online.
The
Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ZiLL) offers counseling services (also via TUD's Matrix Messenger), guidance, and continuing education to support you as lecturers and examiners in structuring the teaching and examination formats in terms of content and technology. Early planning and exchange among colleagues as well as with students about the appropriate options and best practices will facilitate a successful implementation. We would like to thank you in advance for your continued commitment to teaching!
The Senate of TU Dresden decided on March 10, 2021, on regulations to counteract the disadvantages and difficulties caused by the pandemic for the 2021 summer semester, as it did for the 2020 summer semester and the 2020/2021 winter semester. These are essentially the same as the previous regulations. The
University-wide Regulations for Studies and Examination Procedures to Mitigate the Legal Uncertainties Caused by the Coronavirus, Fundamental Decisions of the Senate for the 2021 Summer Semester can be found in this
document. The implementation date of April 10,
2021 results from the extension of the winter semester examination period up to April 9 of this year. The old resolutions will continue to apply until then.
The following applies in particular to the examination procedure for the 2021 summer semester:
- Students have the option of rejecting the examination results. If they decide to do so, the examination can be taken again as the same examination attempt, whereby the later grade counts. This must be declared, without having to provide reasons, to the responsible Examination Office before the renewed examination registration or by March 31, 2022 at the latest. Corresponding forms may be available on the website of your Examination Office. Excluded from the possibility of rejection are results that are given due to cheating after the decision has been made not to take the exams.
- The repetition periods are interrupted for another semester. All repetition periods are thus automatically extended again for the 2021 summer semester.
The Extended Rectorate recognizes that another semester under pandemic conditions will be very challenging for everyone. Let us also approach this difficult situation with understanding and respect for each other. We have already achieved a great deal in the area of (digital) teaching and (digital) examinations thanks to your commitment. We are currently working on eliminating the existing legal uncertainties by the 2021/22 winter semester.
For further information, please refer to the detailed FAQ pages of the
Occupational Health Services and the

We would like to wish all TUD employees a successful start to the new semester and thank you for your continued effort and commitment.
